November Event Guide

Fall is definitely my favorite season. I think it is an amazing combination of beautiful (sometimes very chilly!) weather, cozy feelings, yummy comfort food (and drinks!), and fun events. Bring on the pumpkin spice (basic, I know), and check out my event guide to see what's happening in our lovely city. Hope to see you out and about at one of these fun events!

 

Portland Book Festival

November 9

This fun festival (formerly known as "Wordstock") will include 100+ authors, 90+ vendors, 9 stages, 14 writing workshops, dozens of pop-up events throughout the Portland Art Museum, delicious food trucks, and on-site bookstores and author signings. It is the Pacific Northwest's largest celebration of books and writing, and includes attractions and events for all ages!

 

Northwest Food and Wine Festival

November 9

Bring your appetite and prepare to enjoy beer, wine, and spirits from the NW region along with food pairings prepared by the most prominent chefs in the area. In its 14th year of operation, this festival has become an indulgent half-day destination for anyone who considers themselves a foodie! This is an adults-only event.

 

Turkey Trot 2019

Thanksgiving Day, November 28

Get ready for a big Thanksgiving dinner by "trotting" from the World Forestry Center to the Oregon Zoo (approximately 4 miles) on Thanksgiving morning. The proceeds go towards funding animal care and programs at the zoo. There are shorter options available for kids, too, so the whole family can participate in this fun tradition! **Note: there are many Turkey Trots all around Portland and the surrounding areas - if the zoo location doesn't work for you, seek one out in your neighborhood by searching here.**

 

35th Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at Pioneer Courthouse Square

Join thousands of other Portlanders for a holiday sing-along as you witness the lighting of a 75-foot Christmas tree in the middle of the square. So much fun!

This is a fabulous weekend for wine tasting in Oregon! More than 140 wineries throughout the region will open their cellars and tasting rooms for special events during the Thanksgiving Weekend to celebrate friends, family and the completion of harvest. Enjoy special tastings, food pairings, live music, holiday discounts and more - each winery celebrates the festive weekend with its own flair.
