PORTLAND HOLIDAY EVENT GUIDE
We are in full holiday swing over here at the Danley household! Our christmas tree is up and our lights too. We are ready and eager to enjoy some of the fun holiday events that Portland has to offer. Of course we will be hitting up some of our favorites like the Zoo Lights, Ice Skating at Orenco Station and you know my daughter, Quinn, would never miss a chance to get dressed up to see the beautiful ballerinas in the Nutcracker. Christmas Ship Parade December 1st - 21st
The 2018 Christmas Ships Parade celebrates its 64th season! Witness a fleet of Holiday vessels floating down the Columbia and Willamette rivers throughout the month of December! Over 50 boats with Christmas Lights displays will bring a little holiday cheer to our beloved waterways.
A Christmas Carol: The Musical
December 1st - 23rd
Join Stumptown Stages at the Brunish Theatre for A Christmas Carol The Musical! Alan Menken and Lynn Ahrens bring magical, new life to this classic holiday tale.
Sunshine Division Winter Wonderland
December 1st - 26th
For 25 years, Winter Wonderland at Portland International Raceway has been noted as the "largest Holiday light show west of the Mississippi". Portland International Raceway welcomes you, your family and friends to witness this spectacular light display.
Christmas Festival of Lights
December 1st - 30th
The Grotto's Christmas Festival of Lights presents the sights, sounds and sensations of the season. It is recognized as the largest Christmas choral festival in the world. Guests are encouraged to bring a donation of canned or dry food for Snow-Cap, an East-county food bank.
ZooLights
December 1st - January 5th
The Oregon Zoo invites you and yours to their annual winter festival. This dazzling display features over 1.5 million lights that transform the Oregon Zoon into a winter wonderland.
Black Nativity: A Gospel Songplay by Langston Hughes
December 2nd - 16th
Black Nativity is a special holiday gospel play that retells the famous nativity story with a majority of African American cast. The play is performed in an uplifting gospel style which includes some traditional Christmas carols. Presented by PassinArt: A Theatre Company.
Ice Skating at Orenco Station November 23rd - January 6th www.hillsboro-oregon.gov The annual ice skating tradition returns to kick off Hillsboro's 2018 holiday events season. Now in its fourth year, Winter Village will take over Jerry Willey Plaza at Orenco Station for more than five weeks of ice skating sessions and holiday cheer. Check online for special events and discount days!
The Nutcracker
December 8th - 26th
No holiday season is complete without a ticket to Oregon Ballet Theatre's performance of George Balanchine's The Nutcracker. Whether you're looking to be swept away by a snowflake or to visit the "Land of Sweets", OBT's performance is sure to impress. See site for performance and tickets.
Stumptown SantaCon
December 15th
Santa-themed costume dance party featuring over 25 venues in downtown Portland! Costumes required! Proceeds will benefit The Portland Sunshine Division, The Northwest Bartenders Association, Planned Parenthood, Feed One Haiti and other non-profits in the Portland Area.
Magical Strings Celtic Yuletide Concert
December 21st
Celtic Yuletide is Irish music, dance, storytelling, juggling, ad holiday songs concert at Alberta Rose Theatre. This year marks the 40th anniversary! Minors ok when accompanied by a parent or guardian. See website for ticketing information.
